The godamn pain...

Sometimes i can't even fathom how severe it actually is and it only hits home when i realise that a panadine forte doesn't even help anymore. I think it's why i decided to go vegan, i know it's extreme but anything has to be better than that godamn pain. I still remember the first two times i had this pain, the first i had to crawl back from the toilet to my room in the middle of the night because i couldn't walk. The second, my dad had to take me to hospital because i was constantly doubled over. I went to my doctor, who totally believed everything i was saying and from there began the journey proving to other doctors that i was telling the truth and it wasn't simple period pain. I even had a female doctor tell me to just take the pill and some pain relief because it was probably just normal period pain.

I actually have found a theory as to what the actual pain is...apparently when i have my period the endometri cells which attach themselves to organs outside my body (which has bound my bowel, uterus and kidney together) the cells bleed but because there is no where for it to go, they end up pooling and forming chocolate cysts. The pain is when the cysts burst. Which totally makes sense because it's freaking painful.

I haven't had any extreme episodes for a while now, i think it must take a few months for the cysts to build again after they've burst. The pain is getting worse, i'm starting to get the pangs every now and again even when i'm no-where near having my period. I'm hoping this new diet and all my vitamins will start to help soon!

Peace out homies...hope your all awesome!

P.S Just a little notice to check out WTF Recipes...it'll feature all the recipe's i'll talk about in the blog. Unfortunatly, it does mean accepting a basically vegan diet. At first, i was shocked, scared and appalled but now i'm looking forward to all the amazing and delicious things i can make. There is so much out there, it's just accpeting that for your own health you have to make some changes and learn to like new things. Having said that, there is no way on earth i will be using tofu. I hate it, It hates me, we don't have a very happy relationship. We keep trying but it never seems to work out for us. If you enjoy some tofu yourself, i will make a note of when you might want to include it in a recipe!

Lesson 1:

No animal products of any type...there are exceptions which we will get to later. Unfortunatly meat will only contribute to rich blood and chicken has hormones which will contribute to the sheer nastiness of endometriosis. Like i said, i will get to the exceptions and treats section down the track...which will make y'all much happier!

Now....the lists!

Vegetables
Spinach (Any kind whatsoever)
Carrots
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Mushrooms (any...these are awesome for you!)
Capcicum
Avocardo
Beetroot
Spring Onions
Mixed Sprouts (Alfalfa, Bean shoots, Mung beans..again, anything and everything)
Bamboo Shoots
Radish
Chinese Cabbage
Watercress
Spanish Onion
Capers
Zucchini/Courgettes
Potatos
Pumpkin
Bok Choy
Onion
Tomatos
Corn
Peas

Fruit
Apricots (Fresh, Dried and Necter)
Pineapple (Fresh, Dried and Juice)
Bannana
Berries (Strawberry, Blueberry, Blackberry, Raseberry, Loganberry, Cranberry)
Kiwi Fruit
Oranges (Fresh and Juice)
Apples (Fresh and Juice)
Melons
Mango
Passionfruit
Dates
Cherry
Peach
Grapes (Fresh and Juice)
Pears
Prunes
Figs
Mandarins
Grapefruit
Currants
Paw Paw

Nuts and Seeds
Walnuts
Almonds
Pecans
Peanuts
Macadamias
Cashews
Linseeds
Sesame Seeds
Sunflower Seeds

Herbs
Thyme
Sage
Oregano
Dill
Basil
Tarragon
Parsley
Mint
Corriander
Chives
Rosemary

Spices
Mustard Powder
Garlic (duuuuuuur)
Nutmeg
Vanilla Essance
Paprika
Cinnamon
Ginger
Sea Salt
Pepper

Beans and other assorted Hippy favourites
Red Kidney Beans
Lentils
Tahini
Chickpeas
Butter Beans
Black Eyed Beans
Soya Beans
Brown Rice
Buckwheat
Sambal Olek

Seafood
Scallops
Prawns
Crabmeat
Lobster
Tuna (tinned in water)
Salmon (tinned in water)
Sardines
Seaperch
Snapper
Mackeral
Black eyed cod
John Dory
Trout
Shrimps
Ocean Perch

Other
Apple Cider Vinegar
Salt Reduced Soy Sauce
Rolled Oats
Rye Flakes
Baked Beans
Oyster Sauce
Arrowroot

As always try and get the freshest ingrediants as possible! Even organic if you can stretch it that far but don't worry too hard about organic fruit and veggies...if you can get them rad, if not..just wash the shit out of them. Alot of places these days charge whatever they want for organic foods because it's trendy and people will pay it. It doesn't have to be that bad, there are stacks of food drives you can goto where a bunch of hippies grow their own organic food and personally, i'll support the hippies anyday. Failing that, it's really not really that hard to grow your own stuff! In the next few weeks, i'll be starting to grow some of my own vegies which is very exciting!

Dairy
This is going to be the hardest area of adjustment. I love milk and cheese. I love it so much that having to give it up is really hard. But! It's worth more than an iced coffee....apparently. Anyways! No cheese or milk. So your options are soy, almond or rice milk. I can highly recommend rice milk, it's sweet and actually not that bad. If you end up liking almond milk, a friend of mine pointed out how easy it is to make. Just get some almonds and crush them yourself or just buy almond meal and soak it in water...bingo! Instant almond milk! Oh and if you can get your milk in anything but those life long packs, it would probably be very beneficial for you!

Eggs seem at this stage to be okay!

Now the exceptions...
I have decided that because i can't take iron tablets, the week of my period is the week that i will mung out on meat. So if you feel comfortable doing that, i'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with it at all. I'll keep you posted on my outcomes!

Treats
It's impossible to go through something like this without treating yourself. I'm not keeping a rule as to how often and what...i'm just rolling with it until i have to think about it and will judge it on how i'm feeling at the time. I'm not denying myself anything but the really bad stuff and from having it everyday. It's as simple as if you feel like chicken for a treat make sure it's a grainfed free range happy chicken. Basically, if your going to do it, just be honest about it. It'll make it easier on yourself and everyone!

That's as far as i've gotten this week so if there is anything i feel needs to be added or taken out, i'll let you all know!

Hope that helps! Good luck and if you would like to contact me for clarification or ideas or anything, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Peace out homies....

XX00

I like meat...

Well, this is it...this is where it all starts. Monday i officially started my new diet..it's going to be way to difficult to go completley raw so i've decided on a Vegan with seafood diet. This will contain all the fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices i need to get my body back on track.

I got home from work Monday and settled into my usual routine of sitting on the couch doing nothing when it came time for what to decide for dinner and because we have nothing of what i can eat so far...i felt totally defeated. Everyone was asking me what i want, write a list of what you need, what can you have...i felt like people already expected me to have a handle on everything already. This is going to be a long slow process of trial and error. So Dad made me these delicious veggie pattie/cakes of leftover veggies with spinach and peas (will post recipe very soon).

I found these amazing tinned soups which, agreed...aren't the best thing in the world but at least it was something i could eat in a hurry! They were both gluten and vegetarian friendly, all they did was contain traces of seafood! I will get the name as soon as i get back to the shops..will post with photos!

Stay tuned as i will post my self compiled list of everything i have found that i can incorporate into my diet!

I know this blog is somewhat a little all over the shop but it will all become much more as i experiment over time. :)

Week one.

Hello!

Welcome for a second time to my new blog which i created to document my own journey through Endometriosis. I wanted a way to talk about everything to do with this new chapter of my life as i'm pretty sure it's going to be quite a massive change.

I found it really hard to find a decent website out that that had a good amount of information but also from a normal girls point of view. The hardest thing about this disease is how unpredictable it is and from all the research i've done so far, i still haven't seen or heard anything personal on the internet.

Luckily, i have amazing family and friends who have rallied around me to try and do whatever they can to make this an easy transition.

I'm a bit of a hippy with most things so i have decided to go 100% natural to sort this out. A very good friend of mine is studying to be a naturopath so we're laying out a plan of action on how to get this sorted.

I would love love love to hear from any women, not just young girls, about their experiences. My aim is to create a little hubub of info and support for anyone out there who is struggling with what to do next!

One week in...

Hello!

Welcome to my new blog.

It's been one week since my diagnosis and so far i've had the most amazing response from my wonderful friends and family.

This is just a tester for now but if you do stumble across here until i'm able to start a proper update then please bookmark as i'll be jumping straight in this week.

Thanks for your support!
